SWIM WEEK MIAMI 2013

During the middle of summer every year, Miami Beach turns every venue into a runway show sporting the next line of swimwear everyone will be raving about. In the fashion world, the next few months are crucial as to introducing new lines and creations to the public; Miami’s SwimWeek is never behind.

And to showcase the various swim wear available in its boutiques, Miinto.com presented their own swimwear show in the Miami Design District this past Wednesday.

Boutiques collected their best pieces and brought out beautiful ladies to strut the catwalk and showcase the new merchandise. Not only were there bikinis featured in the show, other swimwear accessories and pieces were shown in addition. The event was live-streamed by Google+ as guests stood on the sidelines taking photographs and admiring the beautiful variety of products.

Other boutiques set up booths in the event entrance, showcasing accessories and other products that created a buzz before the fashion show began. Complimentary drinks were provided to all the guests attending the event as well as $15 Miinto.com gift cards. Miinto.com also ran a contest during the event promoting a $100 prize to guests that scanned the QR code in the back of Miinto employee t-shirts.

The event was held in Miami’s Design District at the Emena Spa, which is located within a shopping mall that proved to be the perfect venue for a swimwear event. Guests were dressed to perfection and excited to be part of the event. Kelly Saks and event planner Lori Riviere did a fantastic job organizing the event and opening the doors of Emena Spa to all the guests that RSVP’d for the function.

Guests socialized throughout the night during the event that was held from 7pm to 10pm. Boutiques connected with new clients and interested customers. Merchandise was purchased by the event guests that fell in love with the boutique accessories that were featured in the entrance.

UNLEASH YOUR INNER BADASS

Even the good girls in the world have a secret badness that comes out every now and then. For the ladies that are natural badasses to the quiet girls in the corner wishing they were badasses, here is just a little inspiration to help you express your most evil self.

Spiked heels are the center piece to any bad bitch outfit. Another popular accessory that I did not include in this inspirational are weapon jewelry. I decided to go with the leather gloves instead of the violent rings.

Ladies, when putting your outfits together, make sure to commit to the attitude of badness. Nothing looks more fake then a “nice girl” pretending to be mean. It is the equivalent of a child wearing her mother’s clothing. Your state of mind needs to be inspired by the way you look.

This outfit can be complimented by loose curly hair, pin straight locks, or perfectly polished up-do. Awesome nails are also crucial. While I prefer to add some length by using press-ons, consider “keepin’ it real” and getting a manicure or trying some awesome nail designs at home with your box of nail polishes.

Remember my beautiful women out there, nothing is more beautiful or intimidating then confidence in yourself and what you decide to wear. Keep your chins up, shoulders back, and lead the pack.

CAT GOT YOUR TONGUE?

Oh the wonderful world of vintage. Everything on this planet that has been man-made is a remix of something that has already existed time ago. It is no surprise that in fashion, everything eventually gets recycled and introduced into a new era.

People! Cat Eye glasses are back. From thick frames to thin frames. From sunglasses to reading glasses. This 1950′s style frame has been made iconic by stars such as Marilyn Monroe, Barbara Windsor, Audrey Hepburn, among others.

The famous narrow Cat Eye is no longer your only option. This frame comes in literally hundreds of different shapes and sizes, as well as colors, thanks to its rising popularity. Vintage frames are taking over and you no longer have to hunt through your grandma’s attic to find these little treasures; walk into any store and the selection will most likely be overwhelming.

In the next blog post, I have researched the best frames for each face type. I’ll discuss which frames fit your face-shape the best. Cross your fingers and pray that Cat Eye glasses are in your category, but if they are not, worry no-more. Remember rules are meant to be broken, especially in fashion. So go on and try some Cat Eye glasses. You never know until you try. The glasses featured above are the Melograno frame by Roberto Cavalli. They are featured on Miinto.com among other awesome Cat Eye glasses to chose from for your new vintage look.

STEAM PUNK INSPIRATIONAL

While many of us are struggling to remain at the fashion forefront, people in the rest of the world get inspiration from the past, in order to look chic in the present. SteamPunk is a growing style that also transcends from fashion into everyday life. Someone once referred it to me as “grunge chic”. I like that.

Combining survival with style, SteamPunk is an expression for the practical people in the world; those that believe in the phrase “form follows function”.

For those of you interested in SteamPunk as much as I am, Miinto.com has added a collection of amazing Diesel watches that capture the personality of this style.
Check them out.

TANYA MARIE BOUTIQUE EVENT

Celebrity stylist Tanya Marie and Miinto.com hosted the fundraising event, Lemons to Lemonade, days after Tanya Marie Design was the victim of a bizarre burglary. The affair was held to support local crime fighting organizations, such as Crime Stoppers, in the Miami-Dade area.

Just six weeks after moving from Coral Gables to the Design District, the boutique was burglarized. Masked marauders crashed a van through the storefront and escaped with nearly $50K worth of couture dresses.

A partner of Tanya Marie Design, Miinto.com heard about the tragic event and quickly stepped in to support the young fashion designer, which was to have the dresses sold on Miinto’s website. Unfortunately, all the dresses to be featured were part of the collection of stolen goods.

Miinto.com immediately put together all their efforts and contacts to assemble the event. Supporting small business owners, Miinto.com believes in partnerships beyond a business perspective, and encourages their business partners to reach out in times of need.

With support from the community, Lemons to Lemonade, was the ideal example of turning a negative into a positive. A raffle and auction were held at the event to raise funds to support the Miami Dade Crime Stoppers. Many items were from famous sports figures consisting of a signed Tony Stewart helmet, Don Shula football, Bobby Bowden helmet, and a jersey from Chicago Bulls forward, Carlos Boozer, whom attended the event.

Along with great music and food from local restaurants, Xanté Liqueurs provided a mixologist serving custom-made drinks. Many of the supporters were featured in couture dresses made by Tanya Marie herself.

Michael Dannheim and Clarissa Empty, spokespeople from Miinto.com, interviewed with Channel 6 News about the incident. The duo shed light on how the partnership between Tanya Marie and Miinto.com will help to overcome that unfortunate night and bring the community closer by inspiring local businesses to stand up against crime.

VINTAGE BOHEMIAN LOOKS

Sometimes the best way to stand out is by blending in. Here in Miami Beach everyone is trying to get noticed constantly. From the neon greens and pinks to the super orange fake tans and plastic surgery.

This style is inspired by simplicity and pureness. Think basic and natural beauty. A lot of times we focus too much on things that shine; but everyone is thinking the same thing. Being unique is much easier when you can feel comfortable in your own skin.

It is not about being careless with your style, it is about being confident in what you wear. Nobody looks sexy in clothes that makes you feel self conscience and uncomfortable. So get rid of those pointy stilettos and super tight corsets and try something simple today.

Throw on a simple hat and pick earth tones that accentuate your skin tone. For accessories, think utilitarian (watches, wallet chains, purses, book-bags).
